Double Whammy of Awesome

_DSC0359  _DSC0510

Accompanied by Mr. Mike last night I bussed over to The Abbey Pub to see the always delightful Calvin Marty and the Sunken Ship, followed by Big Time. Mike enjoyed Calvin as I thought he would but then had to depart as it was a school night. I stuck around for Big Time  - a cover band that can only be described as  Tom Waits sings the eighties. Oh my god it was fantastic..you can see Calvin's pictures here and Big Time's here.

On an unrelated note. You can't even imagine my complete and utter distress when I was watching the telly and getting ready to go out last night when I was assaulted by a Taco Hell commercial featuring not just a Joe Jackson tune (which would be bad enough) but one of my FAVOURITE Joe Jackson songs of all time - "One More Time". All I can say is SHAME ON YOU JOE!! SHAME SHAME SHAME!!!  When I met up with Mr. Mike at the Bus stop I was relating my horror, to which he responded that he'd seen it and thought of emailing me but then hoped maybe I just wouldn't see it. Joe is coming to Chicago in April and of course I'll go (I'm gonna try and wrangle a photo pass but that might just be a pipe dream) but I won't deny there will be a small part of me wanting to pelt him with gorditas.

Hello Kittens.

Not much to report, just thought I'd say hello. Tonight I'm off to see Calvin Marty and the Sunken Ship over at the Abbey, so there will be pictures of that to follow...In the meantime here's another one from the graveyard for y'alls viewing enjoyment...

Annie get your goth...

Despite the fact that I am wont to sniff at pictures of graveyards and dismiss them as cliche photo 101 pap, the truth is I love graveyards, and today when I went out for my coffee and looked up at the sky I knew today was the day I had to go shoot pictures at Rosehill Cemetary, a scant 15 minute jaunt from my abode...It's massive, and convoluted, and I actually managed to get lost in there...fortunately I made it out before the gates all got locked at 4. Click here to see what I've posted so far, I make no apologies for what I am currently referring to as a liberal application of "the goth filter".

And she's back!

Happy New Year y'all.

Sorry for the absence but I needed some time after Christmas to stop spewing venom and misery on all around me. Now that the evil that was 2007 is over and I've been home for a week and a half I'm feeling much better.

So...to encapsulate, Christmas was horrid, after several days of trying to bring the Christmas at the parents house, including decorating the house, extensive cooking, errand running and such, I blew my shot at daughter of the year by screaming bloody murder at my mother on Christmas day, oh yes. It was entirely warranted...so much so that Dad didn't even mind I went through his entire bottle of bourbon in a matter of days...ultimately it was for the best and I think brought home a point to my mother (along the lines of if you don't get up off your ass you will die soon and we love you and don't want that and you're making us all miserable) being for the best or not however, there's still the pressing guilt. Oh how I love guilt...Moving along, New Years Eve was fun and included Miss A's party, The Fixx party, and finally a quiet cocktail at Underbar with Miss Sarah and Char Mar Superstar to round out the evening. Miss Jessica and Mr. Mike accompanied me to the first 2 fetes but decided to pack it in when I headed on to Underbar...Pictures here

I am feeling remarkably better with the new year starting and still filled with that sunshiny optimism I feel every january... Am sending out resumes, working on a couple of little projects, planning a couple of personal projects and generally trying to move towards that wonderous state of being that is "having ones shit together"...wish me luck.

Above we have a heavily photoshopped snap from my camera phone taken when I was out helping Miss Sarah pick out a wig...shortly after taking it I was reprimanded by a feisty old asian lady who made it known to me "NO PICTURES IN STORE!"
