Halloween and other sundries...

It's chilly in my apartment today. Napoleon has spent the day in this nest she created between two pillows on my bed, curled tightly in a little ball, with her tail tucked neatly around her nose. It's the cutest thing ever, and I let her know this by repeatedly snatching her up and giving her a squeeze while exclaiming in my shriekiest cat lady voice "You are the cutest cat ever - EVER! So cute I could eat you with a spoon - a SPOON I say!!". She lets me know she loves me too, by growling and struggling to get away from me.

This is why I will never marry, and will die alone. My corpse will be found only after my 22 starving cats have eaten most of my face.

Last night was the G. Love show. yeah, I know, what could be cooler on Halloween than working a G. Love show?? Besides perhaps, NOT working a G.Love show. But it all got better after. Finally at around 12:30, my evening was my own. Met up with Hamstress, Scarrie, Mr. Chris, Silent Ron, and Quattro over at Club Foot. Hamstress and Scarrie were v. fetching in their Angel and Devil costumes, Mr. Chris was very convincing in his "guy in his mid 30's with tattoos and an attitude" costume, and Silent Ron and Quattro apparently came as yentas. They didn't dress up, per se, but they were both very much in character. I had my camera with me, but it never made it out of my bag. Hamstress however, posted some lovely pictures. When Foot closed, the boys all headed on to Exit, I and the rest of the gals headed home. Quattro gets the award for quote of the evening with: "I'll tell him if he doesn't stick his hand up your shirt I'm gonna kick his ass". Yup - we's klassy.

Shortly after I got up thismornafternoon, Miss Kathy rang to tell me she was going to be stopping by to drop something off for me. She and Mr. Jeff arrived shortly after to give me yummy Halloween cupcakes...which of course were the perfect accompaniment to my cup of tea. The sugar and caffeine boost inspired me, and I decided since it was a lovely day out I would go for a walk. I headed up to Devon Ave to get some good pita bread, and see what else I could find...I returned with the aforementioned pita bread, as well as some curry paste, thai chili paste, some black pepper urad wafers...I also picked up some samosas at a take away. Made for an entertaining afternoon.

I'm quite tired now, but as it's only 9:30 and I don't want a repeat of last week, I'm gonna tough it out for a while longer...I have this derranged idea I want to get up early tomorrow...although I'm sure I'll never be able to sleep tonight, what with my overwhelming anticipation of the Tears for Fears show tomorrow night. That's right, I said Tears for Fears. You wish you were me. Admit it.

another link...and pot roast

There's some rather lovely photography at this site. Link swiped from Dong Resin.

Made pot roast last night and a few of the kids came over, Hamstress, Miss Sarah, Silent Ron, and J...Mr Chris *said* he was coming, but then he didn't answer his phone. He missed out - it was a good nosh. We watched movies, begining with Foxes, then Killer Klowns, and then Motel Hell. After everyone else split, J. and I stayed up way too late watching The Young Ones. Good times.

Link love

Those of you who enjoy the camp awfulness of Ed Wood's films will be delighted to hear that his lost film, Necromania, has been found.

On a completely unrelated note, one of the bartender gals I work with has her own business, she makes nifty and stylish stationery/cards - check out Girl Metro

Misc blah blah.

1. I didn't get back to sleep last night until some time around 5, but I elected to spare you my whining and ranting.

2. My red leather jacket has been located, at Mr. Bills house, now it's just a matter of geting my ass over there and picking it up.

3. Happy Birthday Neil, you sexy bitch you.

4. Belated birthday greetings to CC - also a sexy bitch.

5. Worked the Cramps show on Saturday night - I've never seen them before although I've been a fan for years, I'm sure it would have been a better show 10 years ago, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

6. This big whoop-de-do about Ashley Simpson - really, is anyone actually shocked by this? Come on people.

7. Finally saw Farenheit 9/11 over the weekend. Since I never was a Bush fan and I certainly never even entertained the notion of voting for him, Moore's heavy handed treatment of the issues was a bit much for me, rather like someone beating me and screaming "THE SKY IS BLUE! THE SKY IS BLUE DAMMIT! LISTEN TO ME! THE.SKY.IS.BLUE." There are many who have labeled Moore a propagandist, and perhaps this isnt entirely inacurate, he clearly has an agenda. That said, this movie reduced me to tears. No matter how much of the movie may be nothing more than the product of Moores mighty "I hate Bush" machine, the footage of the charred bodies being dragged through the streets, and the soldiers who are still essentially children, who are now both physically and or mentally crippled for the rest of their lives - And for what, exactly?? This is what got to me about the film, and Moore had nothing to do with it. I got my voter registration card in the mail last wednesday - roll on November second.

8. I'm probably alone in this, but I think that sometimes if you don't feel like cooking, some crackers, cheddar cheese, a few pickled onions, and a cold PBR make for a fine repast.

9. I really want to kick Mark McGrath's teeth down his throat. He irritates the hell out of me. Flouncy metrosexual eyebrow waxing prettyboy - really - I'd like to beat him till I'm tired, take a break, and then beat him some more.

Sleep, why dost thou betray me?

Despite coming home quite late last night, and falling asleep somewhere in the vicinity of 4 am, I was wide awake at 9am this morning. I was a little tired today, but toughed it out, thinking, I'll just go to bed early tonight, 9am rolled around and I was cashed - done - barely able to stay awake. I went to bed and drifted off quickly. I awoke, feeling refreshed, awake, slightly peckish, but otherwise ready for the day. I had set my alarm for 6am, since it hadn't gone off, and it was still dark in my apartment, I figured it was somewhere in the 5am vicinity, but that was okay, the plan was to get up early (why? not entirely sure, but that's got little to do with it). Imagine my fury when I put on my specs and looked at the clock, only to discover it was just barely past midnight. So now it is closing in on 2am and sleep is nowhere to be found, I'm more than a little cranky...it's Sunday night, so there's fuck all on telly. At least I have Formula 51 from Netflix to keep me entertained. I'm not expecting a blockbuster by any stretch, but anything featuring Robert Carlisle, Samuel L. Jackson (in a kilt! rrrowwrr!), Meatloaf, Rhys Ifans, and Sean Pertwee* - playing cops and robbers (actually in this case cops and drug chemists) and chasing each other around England, is more than enough to keep me entertained in the wee hours...

So I'm gonna go watch the movie, and have some soup, and hopefully go back to sleep. Be assured if I fail in this initiative that I shall return later to whine at great length about it.

*He of my beloved guilty pleasure movie, Blue Juice, which I shan't bother to link again, since I know none of you will ever watch it, and I understand, believe me, I do...

SNARK!

Wow. Two, count 'em TWO rejections for jobs in one day!

Given the choice of being around me, or contracting a seeping burning skin inflammation, well, I'd advise you stock up on the calamine lotion.

Your Mama

me: This song makes me wish I knew how to pole dance.
J: This song makes me wish you knew how to pole dance.

This in regards to the Scissor Sisters "Take Your Mamma Out" - which the delightful Receptionista included on a mix CD she sent me. This has to be my favourite song right now. What's yours?

Feh...grumble

This has been a fucky week so far. Monday night work was cancelled due to building maintenance, Tuesday night work was cut short due to water damage in the projection room and the ensuing destruction of both movies, tonight we played the baseball game since the new prints of the movies had not yet arrived - and as y'all know, I could give a flying rats ass about baseball, so it didn't make for an interesting evening, and after 3 crossword puzzles I was bored out of my MIND.

The work thing still has me in a snark. I didn't get the one gig I wanted, still waiting for the jury to get out on the other one but I am feeling SO not optimistic at this point. Have been randomly chucking resumes out at anything that sounds fairly tolerable, only response has come from (*&@@!!!###$#^#$#!) recruiters...

On a different note, if any of y'all are looking for something to do tomorrow night (or, since it is after midnight, tonight) J. is gonna DJ at Exit - he plays the groovy punk rock music, it'll be a good time. Jury is still out as to whether or not *I* will be going, but you should go.

Happy Monday children...

Good morning lamb chops!! Did y'all have a nice weekend?

Worked Friday (B&V) and Saturday (Steve Earl and the Dukes) night. Went out Saturday* after work, which turned into a very long evening. When everyone decided to go to Berlin after Matilda closed, I should have said NO, but I didn't. When Berlin closed and J. said "Let's go back to my place, I have a bottle of whiskey", I should have said NO. Of course I didn't.

Yesterday after making my way home (and can I just say it was GORGEOUS out yesterday? My god!!) I holed up in my house and made faux chicken divan casserole and went to bed early.

Up early this morning. Sent a few resumes, soon I'll be doing the dishes, and cleaning the bathroom. Tonight I work.

This weekend my landlord turned the heat on. It is officially hot towel and steam shower season. woo!

It's all so exciting, I can barely stand it!

I would also like to note that aside from the laundry, which STILL waits, all other tasks on my to do list the other day were accomplished. I know y'all were wondering.

*Went out Friday too but the evening was a whole lot more civilized.

Missing.

My red leather jacket has disappeared. I haven't a clue where it is. So please, if I left it in your house, or in your car, PLEASE let me know so I can stop driving myself insane looking for it. I haven't worn it in months and noticed a few weeks ago that it was gone...

Sob. I love my red leather jacket...
