Work...

So, I'm doing phone work in the call centre of a research company. We get lists of doctors to call, and we call them and invite them to participate in studies, attend lectures, etc...a lot like telemarketing except they're doctors, so they get paid for their time. We are supplied with contact lists by the companies sponsoring the studies, in a lot of cases the lists are very old, and outdated. I overheard the following from a neighboring co-worker:

"Hi my name is D and I was wondering if Dr X is available? Oh, this is a convenience store? Oh, yeah, I knew that, he should be there getting a coffee - can you put him on the phone? What does he look like? He's the guy that looks like a doctor...."

It's all about making it fun....

You think I've been ignoring you, but I've actually been busy....

A few things….

- David Duchoveny is on Jimmy Kimmell – rrrowrr
- Got some temp work, slightly better money, more hours – hooray!
- Working Nelly Furtado tomorrow night – ENVY ME.
- If you’re looking for a good time on Saturday night, Polkaholics are playing at Lincoln Lanes – go celebrate Mayday with the rockinest Polka band this side of the Mississippi (and possibly the other side…I really wouldn’t know)

This is a lame Thursday three, but I just took a shower and smell all purty…

1. What are your favourite smells?

So many… wood burning stoves, Vitabath, that smell of beer, cigarettes and air conditioning that wafts out of bars in the summer, garlic and peppers and onions sautéing together, Sandalwood, Nag Champa incense, black and white photo chemicals, a fresh roll of film, the beach, rainy days in the countryside, mum’s Xmas roast beef, pine trees, fall in Massachusetts, Spring in England, Winter in Chicago…

2. Do you wear cologne or perfume? Scent of choice?

I wear Coco, from Chanel. When I run out and can’t afford more, I move over to Fendi….but I really prefer Coco. In cold weather I will on occasion wear Opium...

3. Scent of choice for a significant other?

I’m not a fan of men in cologne …not that some of them don’t smell nice…years ago I worked in this photo lab and there was this cop who used to come in all the time. he always smelled like he just got out of the shower, like ivory soap and steam… it never failed to make me come over all swirly.

TV Hell...

*The greatest "boot knockin’" collection available*...

order YOURS today!!!

And speaking of late night telly. Has anyone else seen “Classmates” and witnessed the excruciating horror of a 40 something year old woman reading appalling poetry to the guy she dated for a month her junior year of high school and never got over? It makes me want to peel off my own skin.

You know the drill...

A dame is supposed to claim ya even if you drive a Pinto
A hero is a sandwich, and a Manwich is a meal
A marriage is a paper, are they fakin or for real?

Since I'm already going to hell...

the phrase "suffered serious face injuries" forces me to beg the question - How could they tell?

Get well soon Shane.

So aparently Delirious is not a Prince cover band....

So last night was the Delirious show (ever heard of them? Me either) – what is UP with all the Christian bands?? And all these kids coming out to see them – WHERE ARE THEY COMING FROM?? This show was even more Christian than the last one I worked, complete with Amazing Grace sing along, and blinking cross necklaces at the merch stand…is this the new teenage rebellion? Screw you mom and dad and your 70’s rock and 80’s hair metal!! JESUS is MY co-pilot!

The good thing about the Christian shows is that the audience is entertaining – and although I believe people are entitled to believe in what they want (that is until they start trying to tell ME what to believe and how to live, then I have no choice but to start kicking ass and taking names) and I’m not gonna ridicule them for it HOWEVER, I have no qualms about making fun of people for having deplorable taste in music. So I stood there with a handful of wristbands, being regarded either with distain (“what’s the wristband for? ALCOHOL? NO!!!!) or ignored, comments on the passers by were exchanged between myself and my wristbanding cohort that most certainly secured my place in hell…and I don’t mean the fun hell with the parties beer and barbeques, oh no, I’m talking about the real hell, where the only TV is Dr Phil, and the only music is the theme from Titanic.

Thursday - here you go.

1. Grab the nearest book, turn to page 23 – what is the 5th sentence on the page?

“He merely gave a grunt like a pig dissatisfied with its ration for the day, so I hastened to change the subject”
Jeeves and the Feudal Spirit – P.G. Wodehouse

2. What was the first song you listened to today?

Automatic Erotic by Dumbell – first time hearing it, one of the blokes at gig #2 (which I suppose has for the time being been upgraded to gig #1) gave me a cd he burned with Dumbell, Puffball and Gluecifer. Haven’t yet heard the whole thing, but so far so good.

3. What’s the next movie you think you’ll see?

New York Stories should be arriving via Netflicks today…I’ve seen it before but not in years…Kill Bill Volume 1 is hitting Brew and View next week I believe, so I’m hoping to check that out…then go see Vol 2 in the theatre..

Then of course I HAVE to go see 13 going on 30.

ahem.
